Chamber Music San Juans artistic director and clarinetist Patricia Kostek says the group’s next concert “just might be the most diverse and delightfully appealing program” in CMSJ’s long history of performances on San Juan Community Theatre’s Whittier stage.

The concert on Saturday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m., features familiar Northwest and internationally-acclaimed artists, including San Juan’s talented cellist Sasha von Dassow and guitarist Alexander Dunn.

The program covers a broad range of styles and moods, and includes Mendelssohn’s “String Quartet in D major op. 44 no. 1,” Sussmayr’s “Guitar Quintet in C Major for violin, viola, cello, clarinet and guitar,” Burgmüller’s  beautiful “Nocturnes for cello and guitar,” as well as foot stomping traditional Roumanian Dances: “Hora Brasovului”, “Dorul” and “Klezmer.”

Completing the roster of musicians will be Rowena Hammill, cello; Artur Girsky and Natasha Bazhanov, violin; Julie Whitton, viola.

This is not only an opportunity to hear music that is beautiful to the ear, heartfelt and ethnically joyful,” said Kostek.  “but also an opportunity to hear it performed by inspiring musicians who love what they do and who enjoy sharing their music with the San Juan island audience.”

The Business Partner for this performance is Managed Reliability.  Tickets are $26 for adults and $13 for student reserved.  $5 Student RUSH will be available at the door.  A private donor has made provision for free tickets to anyone needing financial assistance to attend a Theatre event.

The SJCT Box Office is open Tuesdays-Fridays, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and one hour before any performance.  Call 360-378-3210, or surf to www.sjctheatre.org.
