I love what our Community Foundation does for our island…take a peek at their website (it’s here: http://www.sjicf.org) and you’ll get the idea (I love their website, by the way…it makes understanding what they do really easy.)

Well, it’s time for the annual request for grants – here’s the info from SJICF’s Susan Matthews:

The San Juan Island Community Foundation is accepting applications for the 2009 grant cycle.

The Community Foundation supports Island nonprofits working in the areas of Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness, and Community.

Grants are awarded through a competitive process that strives to address the broad needs of our community. Projects that provide partnership opportunities among more than one organization or that leverage new resources or have long-term impact are of particular interest. Recipients will be notified in early September and grants will be awarded at the annual Breakfast of Champions event held at the end of September.

Grant application forms can be downloaded from the San Juan Island Community Foundation website, www.sjicf.org. Additional information about the process and procedures can also be found on the website.

Completed applications must be postmarked or received no later than June 15, 2009. The mailing address is San Juan Island Community Foundation, ATTN: Grants Committee, PO Box 1352, Friday Harbor, WA 98250. The office is located in the Technology Center, 640 Mullis St., Suite 104, Phone 378-1001.

The Community Foundation serves as a non-profit philanthropic umbrella organization helping donors, non-profits and public organizations to achieve their goals through direct grants, organizational assistance and philanthropic resource management.
