It’s like taking a trip back in time…

Usually they do this in the latter part of the summer (and they will), but there’s a special chance to see this…this weekend. Here’s more from Kevin Loftus, of the museum:

Encampment Weekend
Saturday, May 23 & Sunday, May 24
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
San Juan Historical Museum

Experience camp life during Pig War times. Join San Juan Island’s own Battery D for Encampment Weekend. Planned living history exhibitions include a blacksmith forge, laundress, carpentry and cooking demonstrations.

Plenty of marching, drilling and musket firing round out the activities for both days. Kids games and fun for the entire family. Lunch available for purchase. Highlights on the hour for Saturday only, including the firing of the cannon!

Admission is $5 and all proceeds benefit the San Juan Historical Museum.
