Most islanders are pretty proud of Jame Longley’s film work, including Iraq in Fragments and Sari’s Mother, which were both near-Oscar winners in ’06 & ’07.

Folks have received reports from him from Iran, with the present craziness going on there…here’s one report from the Northwest Film Forum, and here’s another from the New York Times.

In James’ e-mail about the incidents described in the reports, he says: “All in all, it made me really question what I am doing in this country. It has become impossible to work as a journalist without the risk of physical violence from the government.”
