Part of the deal is…we know each other so well. Two thirds of the Class of 2009 at Friday Harbor High School started kindergarten here on the island together, so we’ve all been around each other for a long time.
Valedictorian Albert Strasser shared his five things that make happiness to an appreciative crowd, while salutatorian Pablo Lopez urged the seniors to keep spontaneous, as he led them in a rhythm/clap that showed they have the beat. With graduation parties all over the island & a cool Grad Night trip to Jones Island after the ceremony (thanks, Ginny, for all the work you & your team put in to make it happen!), it was a night to remember, and a great night to honor & show our love for our great kids.

Way to go, Erin!
You and Pete are great examples of community-minded people that give back to the island.
For those that didn’t know, Pete and Erin also donated a sunrise cruise aboard the Odyssey this past weekend for the graduating seniors as part of the safe and sane “Grad Nite Out” program. By the way, the kids loved it! Thank you, Pete and Erin, and San Juan Excursions. You guys are great community leaders!
This was a class of achievers and overall nice kids. Great human beings. Thanks, Ian, for the pictures from a good community event.
What a warm feeling to be a ceremony where everyone so obviously loves one another. It is great to live here with such a wonderful group of students. This group is going to go far!
What a great job the community did to “make a memory” for these wonderful graduates! Thank you to everyone that was part of this special Class of 2009 graduation ceremony as well as their Project Grad Night Party! You made the memory of a lifetime for them!
