Fresh fruit at the market...

I hear there were a lot more folks dropping by the Wednesday Farmers’ Market last week – nad here’s more about why it’s a good idea this week, from my friend Lei:

This is a reminder that the mid-week farmers’ market is happening on Wednesdays at the lawn on Second Street, across from the Courthouse parking lot.  This coming Wednesday is July 1, which is a great opportunity to get locally produced food for your 4th of July BBQ or dinner.  The hours are set between 3 p.m to 6 p.m. for the market, but we’ve been noticing that many people are stopping by earlier than that, so most of venders will try to set up by 2 p.m. for this market.

Nootka Rose Farm will have variety of great produce, which includes things that are great on your grill.  Our sweet onions are the perfect size for grilling, just cut them lengthwise and put them on your grill with just olive oil and salt.  Zucchini, new potatoes, artichokes, broccoli, cauliflowers are also wonderful grilled.  We also have our raspberries to make your desserts even more exciting.  Check out our facebook and twitter page, search for “Nootka Rose Farm” for a farm update with pictures.

The market venders also include local meats from Saddle Back Ranch, seeds and plant starts from Sowing Circle seeds, baked goods, fresh pasta and eggs from States Inn, and prepared food from Cynthia’s, OF Course.
