The Garden Tour is this weekend!

Fiona and Richard Norris from the San Juan Horticultural Society wanted to remind you the Tour is this weekend – here’s more:

Tickets are on sale now at Browne’s Garden Center and Robin’s Nest for the 2009 Garden Tour on Saturday June 6. Adult tickets are $12; children 12 and under pay $6. Please pay by check or exact change as a courtesy to these businesses acting on behalf of the San Juan Horticultural Society. Tickets will also be on sale at Market Place June 3-5 from 2-5 p.m. and on Saturday June 6 from the shuttle bus driver at Limekiln State Park. The gardens will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Despite the winter storms that caused havoc in some gardens we are able to offer four very interesting gardens on this tour. Two specialize in enhancing the natural vegetation with carefully chosen cultivars.  The other two show what can be achieved using one of the island’s most readily available commodities-rocks! Directions to the gardens are printed on the reverse of the ticket. At two gardens where parking is very limited, a shuttle bus will take visitors to the venue. Gardens will be identified by the flower signs used in previous years.

Proceeds from the tour support the WSU Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden, help pay premiums in the Flower Hall at the County Fair and increase a fund to be used to landscape the gravel pit.
