You all know Jim Stegall who helped pull together the dog park project last year…I just heard that his closest companion & friend has passed away – here’s more from Lee:

Jim’s guide dog Rinda had to be put down a couple of hours ago. The vet tested & probed and found extensive tumors, and it was the best thing to do. Probably notes are better than calls right now, because he’s pretty devastated, so could you ask folks to drop him a note at:

…or you can leave comments here & I’ll get them to him. Thanks…it’s a great community we live in.

  1. Dear Jim: I am so sorry to hear about Rinda. I know how hard it can be to lose a near and dear canine companion to cancer. But your’s especially was a strong and special bond. I remember meeting Rinda at the first Salal Neighborhood picnic. My thoughts will be with you during such a difficult time. I know she is missing you too but you did the right thing as a kind, loving, responsible owner and she knows that and loves you for that, too. She will be much missed. Carrie Lacher

  2. Dear Jim I am saddened to hear about Rinda. She was such a sweet and caring dog and I know that she was your lifeline to the community. I think of her quiet presence during our bridge games and how discreet she was to never give the rest of us a clue as to what your hand held. I know how much you will miss her and pray that you will soon get another faithful companion who will never replace Rinda but will follow in her paw-steps. With sympathy, Merilyn Bourland

  3. Dear Jim, I am so very sorry to hear about Rinda. I remember so very well the day you flew out of Friday Harbor to connect at Seatac for a flight to the Bay Area to meet Rinda and spend time training with her. And I had the pleasure of meeting her when she flew home with you – her first flight to the Islands! I’m sure it must be difficult for you and hopefully you will have a new companion soon. You take care of yourself, Joan White
