Just spoke to Bonnie today & found out that she’s leaving the County United Way at the end of the year. I rejected her resignation request but her board OK’d it anyway, so she’ll be finishing up this last quarter & then moving to Anacortes with Chuck…here’s more:

United Way of San Juan County Executive Director Bonnie Gilmore has announced her resignation effective January, 2010.  Gilmore joined United Way in July, 2005 and has seen the organization grow steadily each year, ensuring that more that more than thirty local human services programs continue to receive funding.

“I am grateful to the residents of our community for responding to the need as they have stepped up to look out for both their neighbors and the people they pass on the street” she said.  In the past four years, United Way has granted nearly a half million dollars to agencies within San Juan county, and will continue to look for ways to partner with other organizations to address many of the challenges facing local families.

Gilmore is relocating to Anacortes with her husband, Chuck Rust.  A search committee has been convened to recruit her replacement.  For information on the position, please contact United Way at 378-4121.

  1. She has done a great job for the community and has helped a lot of people. She has always been positive and kind. Both her and her husband Chuck will be missed.
