Let’s catch up  a bit here:

• The football guys had an easy time a week ago with Seattle Lutheran, winning 56-0, then traveled to Lynden Christian last Friday for a draw at 20-20, which was settled in overtime when they made a field goal for the 23-20 win. The Lyncs come here on the 30th for a re-match…should be a good one. In the meantime, this week our Wolverines travel to Nooksack Valley for a rematch with the Pioneers this Friday, then have Meridian visit for Homecoming on the 23rd.

• The FHHS soccer girls (7-3) got back on the winning track at Concrete last Thursday, knocking off the Lions 3-0. They play North Sound Christian here tomorrow (Tuesday), and have won 7 of their last eight, with six to go.

• Tennis had a good time on Saturday, playing in the sun with Coupeville here. This weekend’s matches and this week’s will help determine seeding & placement in the district tourney, coming up soon – I’ll get you the word on who’s in & who’s promising a little later this week.

• Volleyball is back in action Tuesday night, when Shoreline Christian comes to visit.

• It was a busy weekend for the Tigers (football) and the youth soccer squads, all over the place…it’s cool to see so much activity in our little community, with all the football teams (three of ’em) and soccer squads (over 200 kids play). The football guys have the playoffs coming up at the end of the month, while the older soccer teams end in either early November or early December, depending on the team.

San Juan's U-14 girls (in red) lost to the visiting Mt. Baker squad Saturday, but played hard even in the last minutes of the game.
