Saint David’s Day School Open House This Coming Sunday Afternoon
Saint David’s Day School invites parents of prospective 2010 kindergarten students to experience the elements of a typical school day at their Open House 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. this coming Sunday, April 25.
Founded just this January, Saint David’s Day School is Friday Harbor’s latest addition to what has become a real school neighborhood, boasting eight schools within a one block radius, and is a kindergarten enrichment program. Its purpose is to offering a loving environment where enriched learning opportunities are offered to kindergartners. The typical school day starts at 11:15 a.m. following the Friday Harbor Elementary School morning kindergarten schedule, and ends at 3:00 p.m.
At the school, academic subjects are explored through a variety of units throughout the year, including math development, language arts, science, social studies, music, art and physical education, along with the always popular cooking plus field trips to places like the library, the airport, and the local swimming pool.
Saint David’s Day School boasts an independent K-only program committed to the success and well-being of each child, nurturing them through small class sizes (with a maximum school population of 12 students) and exceptional teachers. Saint David’s Day School is now enrolling for the fall of 2010. Financial aid is available to attend. “Saint David’s Day School seeks to instill a lifelong passion for learning, a continuum of curiosity,” says Cole Hull, Chair of the School Board.
At the Open House, parents and families are invited spend a few minutes visiting the classroom setting and learn about Friday Harbor’s newest education option specifically designed for new kindergarten students. Parents can meet and visit with students, teachers and Board Members. Bring your whole family to see the facility, enjoy some child-friendly snacks, and get your questions answered. The school is located on the corner of Park and Marguerite Street, beneath Saint David’s Episcopal Church (780 Park Street) in Friday Harbor.
