Names for kids…

Me & Shay, catching a few winks...

Ever have a problem figuring out what to call your kid (or dog, or cat, or goldfish, or truck)? Me, too…when we were getting ready to have Shay & Cameron, Sherri & I used to watch the credits at the ends of movies all the way through, waiting for the perfect name to present itself…

So, around that time, I wrote a short op-ed essay that got published in the Eugene paper (21 years ago), and in a magazine (last month – I believe in recycling). So, I thought I’d take a chance to see if you might like it…

  1. Hey-that’s exactly how Jasper got his name. His were in the credits of “Garden State.” And here I thought we were so clever…

  2. This is how younger two were named, hubby is a Dr. Who fan(old ones) and I liked Dr. Quinn,her name just stuck in my head for months..

  3. we went for personal meaning… adele shelby after the shelby mustang, betty jean after cartoon bettys and my love of the southern double name thing..and last emma elvis, emma from emma peel of the avengers and elvis, need i explain… i really loved your article.. i hope to hear more comments..it never gets boring to hear now someone got their name
