Benefit dinner & auction for Tina Jones on Saturday….

It was sad to hear at the end of last summer that someone as active & always-in-motion as Friday Harbor Middle School humanities teacher Tina Jones had cancer, but she tells me the treatments have gone well & things are looking pretty positive.
In the meantime, several of her students who are at the high school now have put together a get-together this weekend to help her out…I know I’ll be there, and I hope you will, too! Here’s the scoop:

I am honored to be the first to place a comment… one of overwhelming gratitude to you, the community of Friday Harbor, for taking such good care our sister. It’s been a great comfort to those of us who simply can’t get out to the island knowing that she has so many, many people in her corner – students, parents, friends, neighbors, store/gym owners. Please know, you have all made a difference. The Jones family can’t THANK YOU enough.
Have a grand celebration!
I want to extend my heartfelt admiration for the “S Club” members and their friends who conceived of a benefit for Tina and then had the motivation to meet with a food supplier, arrange for the Mullis Center, hold a bake sale to fund the rental of the space and kitchen, put together a cooking staff, solicit and gather items for the auctions and advertise. All of this during a busy school year.
It was a fun evening and a grand success! Well done.
