Thanks, from Cole….

Dear Ian,

As a parent and Saint David’s Day School board member, I have gotten too busy for my own good as of late: soccer dad, Community Theatre projects, and involvement in many of the other community organizations we know and love.  And in so doing, so being, one of the necessary things that I have neglected to do earlier this fall is extend our heartfelt thanks to both the contributors as well as  (and particularly) the San Juan Island Community Foundation and their innovative on-line matching program.

Saint David’s Day School was one of several organizations that were selected as Fair Matching Grant participants and raised close to $1000.00 from generous community contributors during the County Fair through the San Juan Island Community Foundation booth and web presence.

The San Juan Island Community Foundation matched those monies with 50% grant of close to $500.00 from their own Foundation Endowment Fund, to fully fund our requested grant of $1,497.46, for which we are very thankful.

The San Juan Island Community Foundation on-line matching program has been a godsend to our organizational efforts, and to the community families we support.  Check it out at http://sjicf.org/category/giving-center-issues/

The monies raised in this way are already hard at work (or rather play!) during our new school year, and have gone to the purchase of a mathematics curriculum (Kathy Richardson Math), a sand and water manipulation table, and a modular wooden kitchen set.  Saint David’s Day School is an academically-oriented school with targeted programs for kindergarten readiness as well as enrichment for students from 3-6 years old.  For more information contact 298-4161 or send us an e-mail at [email protected].

In Gratitude,

Cole Hull,
Chair, Saint David’s Day School Board
