• Today at the Democratic HQ (right behind the drug store, next to Marilyn’s Garden Cafe), the Dems continue their series of chances for you to meet candidates:

County Council member Howie Rosenfeld, District 3, will take questions at the next Democracy Corner “Issues Q&A” on Tuesday, October 2 at 5:30 pm. San Juan Democrats are hosts of the informational series. Rosenfeld, who is running for re-election, encouraged all San Juan Island residents to come and ask him questions in the informal setting.

Howie says: “I know people have concerns about several local issues, and this is a good opportunity to come and share those concerns with me. I would welcome questions about the CAO, ferry issues, economic development, the coal trains, the new hospital and women’s health issues, – and anything else they care to ask about.”

Rosenfeld, a former town fire chief, whale museum director and town council member, is a long time Friday Harbor shop owner and artist. He is married to Friday Harbor mayor, Carrie Lacher.

  2. “Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything . . . That’s how the light gets in.” A lyric from a Leonard Cohen song – – thinking that might be where this came from. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due.
