Spring Street International School dorm students looking like they are ready to move into their new dorm. (even if it is still under construction:)

Just got this note from Debbi Fincher over at Spring Street School:

Dear Fellow Islanders,

As you may have noticed, Spring Street International School is growing! The large building in back is our new dormitory with room for 18 boarding students, 2 dorm parents, dining facilities, common areas, and a commercial-grade kitchen. The dorm will be ready for occupancy this February. On the Spring Street side of campus is a new building housing 2 beautiful new classrooms already in use. Next summer we will break ground for a building to house an art studio, music practice rooms, and another badly needed classroom.

Since 1995 we have grown to a school of 85 students in grades 5 through 12, with 16 boarding students from the Pacific Northwest and abroad, and day students from San Juan, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw islands.

Interested in seeing the new dormitory? Or exploring the new classrooms? Or hearing from our students—from the islands or as far away as China?

SSIS is delighted to welcome the community for special “behind the scenes” tours, one each month, to share the exciting things our students and teachers have going on here. Head of School Louis O’Prussack will lead each tour and looks forward to engaging visitors about present and future plans at SSIS.

Each tour is a chance to share the passion and mission that drives this very special school. Please come and see for yourself why SSIS is thriving today, despite economic challenges here and abroad.

The next tour is scheduled for January 17th from 5-6pm. Space is limited. RSVP requested. Please call (360) 378-6393, write officestaff [at] springstreet. org, or stop by the school office at 505 Spring Street. More information is available on our website:

We look forward to seeing you here!

Sincerely,
Debbi Fincher
