English Camp Addition Celebration

Come celebrate the newest addition to San Juan Island National Historical during a celebration at the Westcott Bay property scheduled from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21.

The National Park Service (NPS) and The Conservation Fund announced last month the conservation and addition of the 34-acre property to the park. The newly protected land, located along 2,500 feet of pristine shoreline on Westcott Bay, will enable the NPS to enhance the park’s educational and recreational offerings at English Camp.

“We hope islanders will come and help us celebrate the acquisition of this tranquil and spectacular piece of land,” said park superintendent Lee Taylor.

The celebration will include music, living history demonstrations, guided walks and children’s activities throughout the afternoon. A 1:00 p.m. ceremony will feature brief remarks from the partners involved in the acquisition. There is no parking at the site so San Juan Island Transit will provide free shuttle service beginning at noon from the English Camp parking area off West Valley Road.

For information, contact the park at 360-378-2240, ext. 2233.
