Friday Harbor High School Art Teacher Andy Anderson has been informed that art work submitted by 12th grader Robyn Roberts has received the coveted Judges Choice Award at the Office of Superintendent of Public Education (OSPI) State Art Competition. Robyn was one of the five Friday Harbor High School students selected as regional winners by ESD189. There were over a thousand images submitted from the state’s nine districts this year and five pieces were chosen by a panel of fifteen art professionals for the Judges Choice award. There will be an awards ceremony to honor these young artists in Olympia on May 17th. Robyn is a Friday Harbor High School senior AP Studio Art student who will be attending Western Washington University next fall and plans on majoring in art and science.

“I was so proud of Robyn for being selected to receive such a prestigious award,” said Mr. Anderson, “She has work very hard on her skills and is so deserving of recognition at the state level. I am certain that whatever she decides to pursue after high school, her art will remain an important aspect of her life.”
