Check out what people are saying about this fantastic production…

WOW!!! Having attended the Friday Night Opening of the San Juan Community Theatre’s production Into the Woods, we cannot recommend it highly enough. Director Margaret Hall has organized a wonderful, talented cast and Musical Director Jim Collado has definitely “raised the bar” with his fantastic orchestra. The hours put into this play really show. The set is magnificent and the costumes, as always, terrific. Having once seen this play on Broadway starring Bernadette Peters, we truly believe our production matches and might even exceed in some places what was done there. This is definitely a not-to-be missed production, so we encourage everyone to quickly get tickets to one of the next two weekend shows. And remember that Thursday, May 2 is bargain night. You definitely will not be sorry. A big thanks to the entire cast and crew!

Go see San Juan Island Community Theatre’s production “Into the Woods”. Or go see it a second time. You will be surprised and challenged to think about the Grimm’s fairy tales in a new way. The music is challenging, the words provoking and the singing enjoyable. If you have children under 10, you might want to take them to see just the first (happier) half and leave at intermission. Young ones will recognize many of the characters: Jack & the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel & of course there is an evil witch. What a great opportunity to introduce them to theatre by starting with familiar tales. As an adult, you will be amazed how the stories are cleverly woven together. Questions about honesty, integrity and how we should treat giants are all discussed. Plus, you will now have the catchy tunes “It Takes Two” or the phrase “The cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, the shoe as pure as gold” spinning around in your head. What is that all about? Come see!

We really enjoyed the wonderful production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” now playing at the San Juan Community Theatre. Outstanding performances and wonderful voices. It’s such a difficult musical to perform, but the cast and crew really pulled it off. Thanks to all of the ensemble!
