FHHS athlete Robyn Roberts breaks local record

Robin Roberts has broken a Friday Harbor High School track record held since 1981 by Stacey Sorenson in the 1600 meter run (mile). The old record was 5:40.4. Robyn’s new mark is 5:30.70. The meet was held at Sammamish High School in Bellevue on Saturday, April 27. There were 20 teams present from 1B up to 2A. Robyn finished in 3rd place out of 25 girls running. She will run this race at least 2 more times before Tri-district at King’s High School

Robyn now has her sights set on Charlotte Hudson’s 800 meter record. Charlotte’s mark of 2:31.2 in the 800 meter run was set in May 19, 1979 at a district meet.

“Robin has been working extremely hard in practice and is an amazing and talented athlete! It is exciting to see her breaking a record that was held for so long and leaving her mark at Friday Harbor High School.” exclaimed Coach Darrin Scheffer.

The next track meet will be held on May 2 at Mt Vernon High School.
