The Frits Building is not long for this world

The Frits Building is not long for this world

A couple of items here sent over from Phyllis at Public Works:

1. The county has scheduled the demolition of the Frits building, across from the Courthouse on Second Street, to begin on Tuesday the 28th of May with completion by the 31st. The original building was a kit home from the Sears Catalog. With no foundation, significant decay and an assortment of hazardous building materials, the safest and best action is the careful demolition and disposal of this building.

2. The San Juan County Courthouse Parking Lot is about to get a facelift, or better stated, a “Lift of Chipseal Rock.” The parking lot, including those spaces around the theater, will be closed on Friday evening the 14th of June and is expected to reopen on the 26th. These dates are subject to change based upon weather conditions. During the closure no driving or parking will be permitted. Any vehicles remaining on Saturday the 15th will be towed. The Town of Friday Harbor has agreed to allow longer than posted parking hours on the courthouse blocks of 1st and 2nd street.

  1. Can you clarify what “longer than posted” means? 🙂

  2. Hi Liz, I can’t clarify that, but maybe Public Works can. http://sanjuanco.com/publicworks/contact-info.aspx
