Sheila Harley checks in with the final “Meet Your Volunteer Firefighter” column for 2015…

The young gentlemen pictured above are in the FireFighter recruit class which is nearing the end of its instruction period. They started class in September, working very hard all the way through, and are to take their final written and practical exams in the very near future.

Each one is a resident of San Juan Island and are from all walks of life. They all have one goal in common:

To protect life and property.

Good luck to them all during the last weeks of their training. We hope to see their smiling faces under yellow helmets in the future.

San Juan Island Fire & Rescue welcomes all interested men and women ages 16 years and above to drop by the Mullis Srreet Station and make an appointment to learn what we are all about.
