Wolverine Winter Playoff Update

Friday Harbor High School Athletic Director Rod Turnbull shares this update on high school sports winter playoffs…
As we head into the last two weeks of the winter post season, our Girls basketball team is still competing.
See below for details on Wrestling, Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball:
- Wrestling – James Guard and Jesse Payne headed off last Thursday for the State Tournament held in the Tacoma Dome. Jesse entered as an alternate and did not end up competing as there were no wrestlers at his weight class that did not attend. Still a big honor to get to that position. James won his first match, lost the second, won the third, but unfortunately was eliminated in his fourth match. Again this was the third year in a row James competed at the state tournament. He again represented himself well. Congratulations on a great year, and on a great High School Wrestling Career. Visit our league website at http://wiaa.com for final results. Uaw the wrestling tab under the Tournament Central tab.
- Girls Basketball – Our girls had an exciting week, and after surviving two loser out contests, one vs Orcas last Wednesday, and the second vs Auburn Adventist on Saturday, they have qualified for the Regional Round of the State Playoffs. This is the third year in a row that the girls have advanced to the regional round of the playoffs. The Lady Wolverines will now travel to Yakima, to play Mabton High School. The game is scheduled for 2:00 at Davis High School in Yakima. With a win, the girls would move on to the tournament portion of the state playoffs in Spokane beginning on Wednesday, March 1st. The State bracket is posted at http://www.nw1a2bathletics.com/ Use the girls basketball tab to access the playoff information.
- Boys Basketball – Like our girls team, our boys team also faced two elimination games this past week, but unlike the girls, our boys finished one game short of advancing to the Regional Round of the State Playoffs for the third straight year. On Thursday, the boys defeated La Conner and advanced to the winner to state game vs Seattle Lutheran. They came up short and could not contain the determined Saints team. The loss brought the boys season to an end. You can still keep track of those left playing at http://www.nw1a2bathletics.com/ Use the boys basketball tab to access the playoff information.
