The mid­dle school stu­dents from the Shaw Island School won a statewide earth­quake pre­pared­ness video con­test. So inspir­ing the way their entire school com­mu­ni­ty has embraced emer­gency preparedness!

Indeed, more than 1,300 islanders par­tic­i­pat­ed in last week’s Shake­Out earth­quake exer­cise- the most ever. That includes school dis­tricts, gov­ern­ment depart­ments, busi­ness­es, non-prof­its, and fam­i­lies and indi­vid­u­als. Thanks to every­one who signed up and spent a few min­utes think­ing about get­ting ready for the inevitable quake.
