Third Saturday Contradance

Posted October 17, 2017 at 5:48 am by

Please join us at the Grange Hall in Friday Harbor for the monthly Saturday contra dance, Saturday October 21st. from 7:00 til 9:00. Our caller will be Judy Zeidel, from Bellingham, and the band will be JP and the OK Rhythm Boys, from Orcas Island.

As always with contra, every dance is taught by the caller, and you do not need to bring a partner, we all take turns partnering each other, one of the friendly features of contra dance. No need to have contra dance experience either, since our caller will be sure you know what to do every step of the way.

Contra dancing is traditional folk dance form which originated in New England, bringing its style from the British Isles. The music has roots in the Celtic countries, and as much in common with music from our southern states. Live music is always a feature of contra dancing and brings an extra element of enjoyment.

This is an opportunity to mix and socialize with friends and family and have a good old time!
Suggested donation of $10, $5 students.
