Screen-Free Week is a national initiative to promote the benefits of limited screen time for children and families. On San Juan Island, children in grades K-5th have been invited to do the Screen-Free Week challenge, promoted through the local schools and the public library.
More than 20 families have signed up for the full program, which includes special activities and store discounts. Other families not signed up are encouraged to participate in the open activities that do not require prior registration. For more information, please contact the Joyce L. Sobel Family Resource Center at 360-378-5246 or the San Juan Island Library at 360-378-2798.
San Juan Island Screen-Free Week is sponsored by the Joyce L. Sobel Family Resource Center, the San Juan Island Library, Island Rec and these other community partners: San Juan Fitness Center, Friday Harbor Elementary School, Griffin Bay Bookstore, Monday Night Contra Dancers, San Juan County Health & Community Services, Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor, San Juan County Land Bank, Serendipity Books, San Juan Island Museum of Art, San Juan County 4-H, Pintail Marine, and the Prevention Coalition.
