Island Air Ambulance Celebrates CAMTS Accreditation

Island Air Ambulance was recently awarded full reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS) and joins an elite group of medical transport services that have achieved this recognition. CAMTS is an independent, non-profit organization that audits and accredits medical transport services worldwide.
Island Air Ambulance is a San Juan County-based critical care fixed wing air ambulance service operated by Island Air. “We have a phenomenal crew that hold themselves to the highest standards for patient care and safety,” said Jackie Hamilton, Island Air Owner and President.
Island Air’s Medical Director, Dr. Jason Heiner, said, “this prestigious reaccreditation is more than a gold standard seal of approval, it’s outside recognition of what communities in the San Juan’s have long recognized in the unique dedication and exceptional care of their local Island Air program.”
Island Air Ambulance has a Membership Program that is available for $39 per Household to shield San Juan County residents and visitors from out-of-pocket costs in the event of an emergency fixed wing medical flight. Barbara Pluff, Island Air’s Membership Manager said, “it’s amazing to think we have a CAMTS-accredited air ambulance service based right here in the San Juan Islands.”
