Classes Resume at Spring Street International

Spring Street International School has safely reopened for in-person instruction. Support from San Juan County Health and Community Services as well as the cooperation of the entire Spring Street community created a safe opening experience.
The student’s enthusiasm and relief during their first day back truly made the herculean efforts to get the campus pandemic plan in place worth every minute of work. Key features included rigid social distancing, masks, PCR testing of everyone prior to coming on campus, and frequent cleaning.
Spring Street has continued to strive to meet the needs of individual families and students. For families choosing to stay remote, faculty have worked hard to effectively connect them with their peers attending classes on-campus.
Middle school students have begun the fall at beach school, where the curriculum has been adapted to the opportunities and challenges that present at Jackson Beach. Large event tents all over campus provide
space for outdoor learning, recreation, and a dry place to eat lunch. The Mullis Center has partnered with Spring Street to provide more classroom space. And, through an incredible effort this summer, parents, board members, and volunteers made 125 individual wooden desks for students.
Spring Street is incredibly grateful for the energy and dedication within our school community, and across the island community at large. Credit must primarily go to the citizens of San Juan Island for diligently following COVID 19 safety protocols.
Spring Street School exists within our community, and together, we have created remarkable local success in flattening the curve of this virus.
Thank you, San Juan Island! Spring Street School is fortunate to exist within a strong, supportive community and we would not be in this unique position without you. Spring Street School gratefully acknowledges the flexibility and sacrifices made by our students, parents, staff, and faculty as we work through the daily challenges of COVID 19.
