Stream Friday Harbor Virtual Film Festival

Featured films run Oct. 15-25, student movies start Oct. 10

 

The 2020 Friday Harbor Virtual Film Festival will run from Thursday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 25, providing on-demand access to 20 award-winning feature documentaries, 12 short films and 11 student short films.

Most filmmakers will participate in lively and informative, interactive Q&A sessions that will be recorded for later online viewing. Detailed information about the schedule and how to participate virtually is available on the website.

One highlight of the festival will be “Angels Are Made of Light,” presented by the 2020 Local Hero Award winner James Longley. He will participate in an interactive Q&A at 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18. His award, along with the Audience Choice Awards and the Laszlo Pal Emerging Filmmaker Awards will be presented during the closing event on Sunday, Oct. 25.

The festival kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 10 with the free on-demand screening of 10 short films in the Student Film Showcase, presented through the generosity of Suzy Mygatt Wakefield and Jay Wakefield. These films, submitted from around the world, are available through Oct. 25. Don’t miss viewing the Spring Street International School students’ entry, “The Peel Out.” It was filmed by Tawan Edholm (Director). Bradley Bennett (Producer), and William Hagman (Videographer). Winners in two age categories (ages 11-17 and 18-26) will receive the Laszlo Pal Emerging Filmmaker Awards.
