An idea for the Navy….

One of the problems we sometimes have around here is the Navy wanting to do sonar testing off the west side, which is really not a good idea for marine mammals. It’s always good to see old islanders when they come to visit – Bronwyn Bacon was here Saturday night, Sharon Adler was here on Sunday, and it was good to see Nancy Raichlen (she’s lives here) with Holly, who teaches on the mainland during the school year.
Music at the Port continues in August…

Days like yesterday make it feel like a great idea – the Music in the Park at Fairweather Park at the Port overlooking the marina is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon – the music continues this month each Friday (5-7pm) and Sunday (2-4pm)…plan on dropping by! Here’s more.

One of the most giving people on the island is Carol Capps…seems like you see her everywhere, including giving blood last week (the blood drive was in the air-conditioned Mullis Center rather than its usual spot in the Grange, which was maybe 180 degrees), or dressed up for the 1910’s in the Soroptimist part of Continue Reading

FHHS coach Rich Warin says the game is at noon on Saturday – the fundraiser helps support Hartman Field. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs for sale plus homemade goodies. Nancy Adkins, 74, passed away at her home in Anacortes July 15, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Though she was diagnosed with melanoma in 2001, Nancy never let that slow her down. As recently as 2008, she drove across the country visiting friends and family as far away as Tennessee. She will always be Continue Reading
