Thurs­day after­noon the hard-luck soc­cer Wolver­ines pres­sured the goal through­out the game, but shot after shot lat­er the boys came up with a 0–0 draw with Cav­alero Mid-High School. The guys end the sea­son with a win and two ties to go with eight loss­es, and the sat­is­fac­tion of steady improve­ment through the sea­son. They  Con­tin­ue Reading

In Chica­go, they sched­ule Cubs games at Wrigley in the mid­dle of the day for two rea­sons: One, that’s when base­ball is sup­posed to be played, and two, then peo­ple can skip work & go watch ’em. Today, you can too — the Fri­day Har­bor Wolver­ines base­ball team plays at 2:45pm here against Orcas at  Con­tin­ue Reading

You know, it was cozy & warm & friend­ly hav­ing the Mar­ket at the high school in the din­ing hall/commons there, but the weath­er’s good enough to get out now…market man­ag­er Rosa Blair tells me the out­door mar­kets for Sat­ur­days (10am-1pm) begin this week­end and run till Octo­ber. Quick notes: The base­ball express rolled on, as the boys thumped Gran­ite Falls Fri­day night 9–0 before sweep­ing two at Orcas on Sat­ur­day. The soft­ball girls lost their dou­ble­head­er at Orcas Sat­ur­day, while the soc­cer boys near­ly jumped Wash­ing­ton High in Taco­ma Fri­day night, rid­ing Conor Lan­phere’s goal to a 1–1 tie till the hosts  Con­tin­ue Reading

The more things change, the more they stay the same… A cou­ple of new places opened in town, and a cou­ple moved. The Blue Water Bar & Grill (above) opened its doors on Mon­day this week. Locat­ed in the spot where the Front Street Café was locat­ed for a cou­ple of decades, and spread­ing into the  Con­tin­ue Reading

Mar­ty Robin­son from the Ele­men­tary School says the kids did an awe­some job, help­ing their neigh­bors: Thanks to the awe­some gen­eros­i­ty of Fri­day Har­bor Ele­men­tary School fam­i­lies, more than 1000 food items were deliv­ered to the Fri­day Har­bor Food Bank on Mon­day.
