Marine Water Rescue Training

San Juan Island EMS would like to inform the pub­lic that they will be host­ing a Marine Water Res­cue Train­ing in the Gar­ri­son Bay and Yacht Haven Road area. This train­ing will be con­duct­ed on Novem­ber 17th & 18th from 8am till 7pm.

This train­ing will involve sev­er­al agen­cies, among them are San Juan Island EMS, San Juan Island Fire Dist. 3, Lopez Island Fire and Res­cue, San Juan Ves­sel Assist, San Juan Coun­ty Dive Team, San Juan Coun­ty Sher­if­f’s Office, and the Unit­ed States Coast Guard.

Mul­ti­ple ves­sels will be oper­at­ing on the waters of Mos­qui­to Pass, Gar­ri­son, West­cott and Horse­shoe Bays. There will also be heli­copters oper­at­ing over­head and land­ing in the area. Oper­a­tions will be mon­i­tor­ing VHF chan­nel 16 and oper­at­ing on local fire and EMS frequencies.

This joint oper­a­tional train­ing will pro­vide for a safer and more orga­nized response to actu­al emer­gen­cies that occur with­in San Juan County.
