Andrea Hampton, owner of Salty Fox Coffee – Contributed photo

Salty Fox Coffee is the passion project of owner/manager Andrea Hampton. Andrea moved to San Juan Island in 2007, shortly after graduating from WSU. As the daughter of a fisherman, she has always felt a strong connection with the ocean and its salty fresh air.

Andrea worked as a property and casualty agent at Safe Harbor Insurance (previously Swanberg-Judkins) from 2007-2015 with a few extended breaks when she had daughter, Kate (7), and son, Mac (6). Newly single, she felt a strong pull to engage positively with the local community on a daily basis. This prompted the move into the coffee/hospitality industry.

The opportunity to purchase what was previously the Far North Cafe presented itself in early 2016. The primary focus of Salty Fox Coffee is to provide excellent espresso/coffee drinks to islanders and visitors. With brand new, top of the line espresso equipment, a well trained professional staff and coffee beans from Blue Star Coffee Roasters (an award-winning roaster out of Twisp, WA (on Highway 20)), Salty Fox Coffee pours a great cup.

Beyond the espresso bar, Andrea offers a simple, healthful, and FAST breakfast menu (served all day). Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten Free options readily available.

The name Salty Fox came about when a salt and pepper fox crossed the road in front of Andrea’s car while driving to the coffee shop. Andrea is the sole owner of Salty Fox Coffee and has no affiliation with any other businesses on the island.

“We love making coffee for the island that loves to drink it!”
