Congratulations are in order for Senior EMT Lainey Volk. Not only is Lainey heading up the newly formed community paramedicine program but every 3 years she organizes the program called Every 15 Minutes.

Lainey is an active EMT responding on 911 calls and follows up with patients referred to her by physicians and paramedics for the community paramedicine program. The Every 15 Minutes program coordinates with the San Juan County Public School District, San Juan County Sherriff’s office, Emergency Medical Services, Fire, Airlift NW, Island Air Ambulance, Evans Funeral Home and local courthouse officials for the two day event that focuses on the perils of drinking and distracted driving.

Lainey is also in charge of the Community Outreach Programs offered through San Juan EMS. These include car seats and safety checks, helmets, home safety checks for elders and CPR/ First Aid classes. Lainey writes grants for many of the programs she offers to the public.

San Juan EMS would like to congratulate Lainey on all her years of service and dedication. We love that you love what you do Lainey – Thank you!

  1. I want to say how much I support Lainey and all the time she has given to the community through her work with EMS. This winter the Port had an older customer living aboard their boat who was in much need of help and care. He had no family or next of kin and Lainey went above and beyond to help him with food and clothing, got him checked into the hospital and eventually into care facility.

Without Lainey I’m afraid this sweet old sole would have had no one to advocate for him and now he is safe and being well cared for. There are a lot of people who need help in our small community and I’m thankful for people like Lainey from EMS, our Family Resource Center, Food Bank and all the others who work so hard to help!
