In many homes across the world, the holidays are marked by candlelight.

Menorahs, Kinaras, Advent wreaths, and the classic holiday decoration of window candles spill the warmth and light of home into the darkness of our world.

As night falls earlier, and we enter a holiday period in which we may be separated from friends and family, San Juan Community Theatre invites all of San Juan Island to keep the light aglow with us this season.

Here’s how you can participate:

1. Stop by the theater’s lobby from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or 4-6 p.m., Dec.15-19, to receive your candle and participation instructions from a masked, friendly and socially distanced neighbor. If you have neighbors who you think would like one, feel free to take some to deliver!

2. At 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 19, light the candle in your window and take a photo from outside (or inside—be safe!) as the light glows into our neighborhoods. Post the photo on our Facebook page or email it to our staff! (Instructions will be included with the candle.)

3. At 7 p.m., tune in for a special presentation from San Juan Community Theatre on www.sjctheatre.org.

4. If you are able, help the theater keep the performing arts on San Juan Island alive for the 2020-21 Season by giving at www.sjctheatre.org/support or calling 360-378-3211 x024

San Juan Community Theatre Executive Artistic Director Nathan Kessler-Jeffrey and his dog River will be passing out candles from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Dec. 15-19. Come see River’s big red holiday bow, and let’s light up homes all over the island this year.

For more information, contact Nicole Santora at [email protected] or 360-378-3211 x028. Happy holidays!
