Hap­py New Year!

As the old year comes to a close, whether you are in the habit of mak­ing res­o­lu­tions or not, the Mullis Cen­ter offers sev­er­al ways to gen­tly improve your life.

To bring joy and well­ness into your life, Zoom yoga class­es with Kate­ri­na Wen are now being offered to seniors at no cost.

Join the Mullis Cen­ter book club, also via Zoom, to stim­u­late your brain and broad­en your horizons.

Final­ly, keep your feet hap­py and healthy by mak­ing an appoint­ment for Foot Care at the Mullis Center.

Zoom Yoga with Kate­ri­na Wen: Sign up for either or both of two joy­ful yoga class­es taught by Kate­ri­na Wen.

Chair Yoga, Tues­days at 1–1:45 p.m., is a pop­u­lar, easy-to-fol­low sequence improv­ing your mobil­i­ty and vital­i­ty includ­ing breath­ing prac­tices to relieve stress and cre­ate calm.  Says Kate­ri­na, “It is a sweet gath­er­ing where we share a light­heart­ed prac­tice to re-pat­tern our body’s abil­i­ty to become resilient again!

This class will be free for the first three months of 2021 to all Mullis Cen­ter members.

Well­ness Hap­py Hour on Thurs­days at 1 pm is sim­i­lar to Chair Yoga but with sup­port­ed stand­ing pos­es to help with bal­ance and sta­mi­na. These exer­cis­es will bright­en your mood, sharp­en your mind, and improve your life. “The goal of the prac­tice is to uplift peo­ple’s spir­it by reawak­en­ing their abil­i­ty to move com­fort­ably, breathe deeply, and embrace more joy.” This class is FREE to all Mullis Cen­ter members.

Mullis Cen­ter mem­ber­ship ($25 per indi­vid­ual $40 per cou­ple) waivers are avail­able for any­one fac­ing finan­cial hard­ship and as always, dona­tions are hap­pi­ly accepted.

Haunting Paris - Mullis Center Book Club

Mullis Cen­ter Book Club: Read­ing is not only good for your brain, in these days of pan­dem­ic iso­la­tion, read­ing also offers an open door­way to oth­er places, peo­ple, and per­spec­tives. Enjoy shar­ing your read­ing expe­ri­ence with a con­vivial group of read­ers facil­i­tat­ed by San Juan Island Library’s Beth Helstien.

Book Club meets via zoom on the sec­ond Mon­day of each month at 1:15 p.m. Books are select­ed by club vote and have usu­al­ly been around long enough to be avail­able sec­ond hand and are also usu­al­ly avail­able in large print or in audio. 

The next four books include Haunt­ing Paris by Mam­ta Chaudhry for Jan. 11, “Brook­lyn” by Colm Toib­in for Feb. 8, “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate for March 8, and “The Water Dancer” by Ta-Nehisi Coates for April 12.

Foot Care at the Mullis Cen­ter: Final­ly, step into the New Year with nice­ly trimmed toe­nails and smooth feet. Foot care appoint­ments are avail­able on Mon­days and Tuesdays.

Safe­ty pre­cau­tions are tak­en. Please bring your own tow­el and wear a mask. A first-time vis­it for a new client is $45. After that, the reg­u­lar price is $25 for mem­bers of the Mullis Cen­ter and $35 for non-members.

Call the Mullis Cen­ter at 360–378-2677 to make an appoint­ment. They do fill up quickly!
