Call for Sculpture Submissions

San Juan Islands Sculpture Park, an independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit, will be accepting sculpture submissions this summer.

All sculptors are welcome to submit works using the guidelines below between June 6th and Aug 4th, 2021.

We do not require any biographical material with your submission. Sculptures will be selected on the merits of the art and how they will complement our park.

All submissions must be deemed safe by us and should be suitable for exhibition in an outdoor setting and be capable of withstanding occasional high winds, rain, and possible snow.

Chosen artworks can be installed between Sept 15th-Oct 10th, 2021. Installation appointments will be made based on our schedule and availability plus weather conditions. Overnight accommodations may be provided depending on Roche Harbor Resort’s room availability. Installation assistance is available.

Heavier and larger exhibits may require rental equipment which would be the responsibility of the exhibitor.

Artist agrees to placement for a two-year period if the work is not sold sooner. A 30% commission will be taken on all sculptures sold during the exhibition period and for 90 days after.

We are not responsible for transportation to and from the park. We may be able to accept certain exhibits by shipment to us.

Sculptures are to be delivered and installed in the park by the artist or by the artist’s representative at the site location designated by park management. After acceptance and before installation, artists may be asked to provide a diagram or description of any installation requirements. All exhibits must be secured for safety and security purposes. Rebar and ready mix will be supplied by the park on installation day.

SJISP takes all precautions to protect and maintain consigned sculptures but artists must insure their own artworks for damage, theft and liability.

Art that differs from the digital entry photo may be rejected prior to installation.

The SJISP will reimburse up to $300 travel expenses after installation, and after submission of valid receipts (allow 30 to 60 days for processing).

Contact us using the form provided on our website with any questions you may have.

The exhibition agreement is available for download here.

To enter your submission, use our online entry form or email your images to [email protected]. Use “Submission” in the subject line. No images larger than 5MB. Each image must include dimensions, material and approximate weight. Each artist may submit up to five sculptures. We will notify all artists whose work has been accepted by August 25th.
