Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2021, San Juan Island Fire & Rescue responded to an isolated brush fire adjacent to the Land Bank’s Mount Grant Preserve. The fire charred approximately one quarter acre of grass and brush before being extinguished.

After visiting the site, Land Bank Director, Lincoln Bormann, commented, “We are lucky to have such dedicated professionals and volunteers. San Juan Island Fire, who was already dispatched to an earlier grass fire, was able to swiftly deploy and respond to another threat. We are grateful to the firefighters and neighbors who worked to extinguish the fire, ensure people’s safety, and prevent spread into the Preserve.”
