School District Reaches Tentative Agreement With Teachers Association

From The San Juan Island School Dis­trict… The San Juan Island School Dis­trict and the San Juan Edu­ca­tion Asso­ci­a­tion reached a ten­ta­tive agree­ment at 6:14 pm Mon­day, Sep­tem­ber 4, 2017. Accord­ing to one of the teach­ers who prefers to remain anony­mous, this is the last chance they have to nego­ti­ate local­ly — because of recent state leg­is­la­tion, the state will take con­trol start­ing next year and give out 3% pay increas­es based on cur­rent pay. Gaia the Octopus

Researcher Dominic Siv­i­t­il­li from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Wash­ing­ton, has been study­ing a rare Giant Pacif­ic Octo­pus that he found in the waters just off San Juan Coun­ty Park on July 2nd.
