Reduced Ferry Service

Wash­ing­ton State Fer­ries is tem­porar­i­ly reduc­ing ser­vice on the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route begin­ning Fri­day, April 10, due to the M/V Samish being out of ser­vice due to need­ed rud­der repairs. Until fur­ther notice, the route will oper­ate on a three-boat sched­ule instead of its usu­al four-boat ser­vice. Reser­va­tions will also be sus­pend­ed through April  Con­tin­ue Reading

Winter Ferry Schedule Extended Through April 26

Wash­ing­ton State Fer­ries will extend its cur­rent win­ter sail­ing sched­ule through the end of next month due to declines in rid­er­ship from COVID-19. The spring sail­ing sched­ule will now ten­ta­tive­ly begin on April 26 rather than March 29. Cus­tomers should con­tin­ue fol­low­ing the win­ter sched­ule. WSF Offering Ticket Refunds and Suspending No-Show Fees

While WSF can­not extend the 90-day peri­od for tick­ets and trav­el pass­es, cus­tomers who are unable to use tick­ets or trav­el pass­es because of COVID-19 con­cerns may be eli­gi­ble for a refund for the unused por­tion of their fare. Wash­ing­ton State Fer­ries’ win­ter sched­ule begins Sun­day, Jan­u­ary 5, and is in effect through Sat­ur­day, March 28. Ser­vice between Ana­cortes, Fri­day Har­bor and Sid­ney, B.C. is sus­pend­ed for the win­ter. The Anacortes/San Juan Island routes will oper­ate three ves­sels on week­ends (no ded­i­cat­ed inter-island ves­sel), with four ves­sels in ser­vice on week­days. The only two ves­sels in the WSF fleet cer­ti­fied to sail in inter­na­tion­al waters, Elwha and Chelan, will be out of ser­vice for required main­te­nance start­ing Tues­day, Novem­ber 12. This leaves no option but to sus­pend ser­vice to Sid­ney, British Colum­bia through Decem­ber 8. Anacortes Terminal Survey

The Wash­ing­ton State Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion is part­ner­ing with the Port and city of Ana­cortes to explore inno­v­a­tive pub­­lic-pri­­vate part­ner­ships to enhance the 35-acre fer­ry ter­mi­nal site. This could include com­mer­cial oppor­tu­ni­ties such as retail stores, lodg­ing and food options. Appar­ent­ly no bomb was found — they’re load­ing for Ana­cortes. Here’s the offi­cial word from WSF: M/V Elwha has been cleared to sail and nor­mal oper­a­tions will resume as soon as pos­si­ble. Sup­ple­men­tal sail­ings will be added to help accom­mo­date pas­sen­gers going to Fri­day Har­bor and return­ing to Anacortes.

Bomb Squad Arrives

By now you prob­a­bly know there was a bomb threat this after­noon aboard the Elwha. All fer­ry ser­vice to and from Fri­day Har­bor has been sus­pend­ed until the fer­ry can be cleared.
