The Chamber’s Debbie Pigman reports: “Town crew members, Jeff Peacock and Dave Smith (not shown) are caught in the act of putting up our Town of Friday Harbor Centennial Bannners. The flying of the banners coincides with the final quarter of celebration of the town’s first 100 years!”
Great show! (And my nose isn't growing!)

On TV on Thursday….

It’s always fun to see yourself on TV, and we like seeing ourselves as much as anyone… here’s the word from Eric at KING5 in Seattle:
KING-TV’s popular show Evening Magazine is doing a series of stories called, “Just A Ferry Away”. On Thursday, July 2nd at 7:00 PM on KING-TV we will be featuring Friday Harbor. Our crew was in town a couple of weeks ago focusing on things to do and places to go in and around the Friday Harbor area.
We hope you like the story!
Cheers-

One of the cool parts of this year’s centennial celebration on the island was Mike & Julia Vouri’s book about Friday Harbor earlier this year (it was great – did you get yours? Here’s the scoop.)
Now a book for Roche Harbor is out – Journal of the San Juans editor Richard Walker and Arcadia Publishing have released the latest volume in the Images of America series, “Roche Harbor.” Here’s more from sanjuanjournal.com.
Way to go, Richard!

Going to the Market…
Posted June 30, 2009 at 11:24 pm by Ian Byington
I hear there were a lot more folks dropping by the Wednesday Farmers’ Market last week – nad here’s more about why it’s a good idea this week, from my friend Lei:
This is a reminder that the mid-week farmers’ market is happening on Wednesdays at the lawn on Second Street, across from the Courthouse parking lot. This coming Wednesday is July 1, which is a great opportunity to get locally produced food for your 4th of July BBQ or dinner. The hours are set between 3 p.m to 6 p.m. for the market, but we’ve been noticing that many people are stopping by earlier than that, so most of venders will try to set up by 2 p.m. for this market.
Nootka Rose Farm will have variety of great produce, which includes things that are great on your grill. Our sweet onions are the perfect size for grilling, just cut them lengthwise and put them on your grill with just olive oil and salt. Zucchini, new potatoes, artichokes, broccoli, cauliflowers are also wonderful grilled. We also have our raspberries to make your desserts even more exciting. Check out our facebook and twitter page, search for “Nootka Rose Farm” for a farm update with pictures.
The market venders also include local meats from Saddle Back Ranch, seeds and plant starts from Sowing Circle seeds, baked goods, fresh pasta and eggs from States Inn, and prepared food from Cynthia’s, OF Course.

Viv & Dan get hitched….

You remember Vivian Simonis who worked at Charters Northwest (with her ace bookkeeper sis Rose) before making her own company, Company Gear….she made the shirts & caps & pads & pens that By Design gives out, and more, with our logo on ’em.
Anyway, she went & got married last month in Bellingham (she lives in Birch Bay, now) to her friend Dan, so Josie & I went to go visit them in Bellingham Saturday & say hey, along with a bronzed friend of theirs.
Be sure & call her if you need your logo splashed across anything – she can get it for you at a competitive price that can’t be beat.
