Spring into a New Sailing Schedule

Posted March 15, 2015 at 5:39 am by

wsf-weekly-update-header

Here’s an update from Washington State Ferries…

Plan ahead for the new spring sailing schedule and upcoming fare changes. The spring sailing schedule (PDF) begins on Sunday, March 22, and annual peak-season fare surcharges go into effect May 1. The spring schedule includes the following changes:

  • Opening of the Anacortes/Sidney, B.C. route with one round-trip per day
  • The return of weekend interisland service in the San Juan Islands, plus an added sailing on Fridays
  • The return of three-boat service on the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route on Saturdays and Sundays, and five minute sailing time adjustments during weekday morning and evening commute hours
  • An additional Port Townsend/Coupeville sailing on Friday night, plus a second ferry joins the route starting Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10

As we head into warmer weather, it’s a good idea to arrive early, plan for busier sailings and make a reservation if you’re traveling on the San Juan Islands, Anacortes/Sidney B.C. or Port Townsend/Coupeville routes.

Michele Mariotti, last featured in the popular Live in HD broadcast of Rigoletto, conducts debuting Scottish director Paul Curran’s staging, a co-production with Santa Fe Opera.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for SJCT members and $10 for student reserved. Due to a financial agreement with the Met, no SJCT coupons are accepted for these productions. Tickets are available on-line at www.sjctheatre.org or at the SJCT Box Office: 378-3210.

5th Grade Pancake Breakfast

Here’s a note from Debbi Fincher about the upcoming 5th Grade Pancake Breakfast fundraiser…

Hi Tim,

My youngest, Luke, is in the 5th grade this year and it’s the annual pilgrimage to the Seattle Pacific Science Center. We could use your help in getting the word out on the tradition of a Pancake Breakfast made by the parents and students of the 5th grade.

It’s really a great deal and this year we are offering a pre-sale ticket, so adults can save $2 off the ticket price at the door. If anyone would like to make a pre-order, we would appreciate having that in by March 18th, so we can be sure to order enough food!

They could place a pre-order with any 5th grade parent they know or contact me at 378-9479. The kids will be helping at the breakfast to greet and serve our community.

The breakfast will be at the elementary school. It’s in coordination with our FHES PTA book Fair, too! And, we have some parents helping to put together some fun and interesting raffles!

Thanks for your support. Take care, Debbi

Jim Says Thanks

Jim Morrison of the Island Chordsmen Plus, shares this note of thanks with you…

thank-youThe dust has settled from our “Island Chordsmen Plus” Singing Valentine effort of last month, and it is due time to publicly thank all those who had a part in the fun: those singing and all the receivers; and others making it a success.

Our singers, both young and ‘old’, walked the extra mile in learning a slew of newer songs, taking extra time to perfect them, led by Angel Michaels, one of the Island’s gems, who helped us grow musically to where Islanders would WANT to listen to us warble! On Friday and Valentine’s Day, the singers, in red vests and bow ties, hung in there for two long, fun-filled days of singing to over 400 smiling Islanders as we crisscrossed the Rock, surprising wives, husbands, employees, bystanders, and even appreciative diners at restaurants. An amazing effort by an amazing, dedicated group! Continue Reading
