The workshop will be held at the San Juan Island Library’s community room on Tuesday, December 17th, from 9 a.m. – noon

Stop by the shelter to meet Babette, Betty, Frankfurter, Olivia, Buttons, Checkers, Jackie, Bess or Axle…we promise you will be charmed. (www.apsfh.com).

Greetings Pre-holiday Islanders,

Here comes Thanksgiving, one of our favorite holidays. (What a great concept… a holiday that reminds us to be thankful.)

And, if you can make it on Monday the 25th (at 7:00 in the library), we are screening a rather upbeat film about the secret life of crop circles.

The more you dig into the details around this subject, the more fascinating it becomes. I’m sure we’ll have fun talking about this one.

Hope you can make it.

Rob Simpson

PS. Yes….there will be Friends Of The Library popcorn, hot tea and coffee….but no turkey.

Moving Forward on the Waterfront

Posted November 23, 2013 at 5:56 pm by

port-logoThe Port Commissioners invite the public to attend an update meeting on the Port’s Waterfront Master Plan and to meet the Spring Street Site design teams on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Friday Harbor House conference room. The workshop will begin at 5pm, with presentations scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.

The Port has begun the process of rebuilding the Spring Street Landing building, destroyed by fire a few months ago. The Commissioners of the Port of Friday Harbor have steadily moved forward on this project by contracting with engineers and architects to create a waterfront commercial building [that] the San Juan Island community will be proud of for years to come. Demolition of the damaged building will take place soon.

This will be a great opportunity to give feedback on the early design concepts of the Spring Street Landing building. Light refreshments will be provided. For questions, contact Deanna Eltinge (360)378-2688.
